Remember when Earth Day morphed into a cheerful and educational day at school full of activities and festivities? Have the behaviors which encourage eco-friendly behavior which were enthusiastically coached to the youth been tossed astray over the years? It is a human beings social responsibility to play their role in encouraging and action upon sustainability. And us green-living junkies are sick and tired of your aberrant behavior.
Prime example. Yes, I am calling out the dominant corporation that produces 4 billion paper cups a year and exceedingly contributes toward carbon absorption incapacity. Trees that sway in the breeze aid in absorbing carbon dioxide, which is a cardinal environmental concern toward the environment. Sip back your triple venti (no foam) latte with ease and not a slight degree of cognizance of how the paper cup comes with environmental consequence.
How many bags does it take for you to wrap up that package of hormonally induced meat that you shouldn’t even eat? Plastic bags are extremely tough to break down and recycle. Yes, they are convenient and accessible, but, next time you catch a glimpse of a plastic bag flying in the sky, keep in mind that it’s going to touch down to pollute and contribute toward harming our motherland.
Hazardous chemicals used for commercial or industrial purposes and improper irrigation systems/practices are a primary source for the production of inorganic forms and plants full of pesticides and environmentally unfriendly chemicals. Contaminated environments pose a major concern which can open up a can of worms for your respiratory system as you inhale gases emitted from the contaminated soil.
Remember when 200 million gallons of crude oil was poured out by BP into the Gulf Of Mexico back in 2010? For example, a 16,000 mile stretch of the coastline was impinged upon as oil was washing upon the shores throughout. Imagine being under the impression that you’re taking a dip in the refreshing ocean water and coming to find out that it is chemically contaminated from an oil spill. Good ol’ corporate America….
Thanks to the state of our consumer society, human beings are driving and burning gasoline more than ever, which creates an excess of carbon dioxide. Public transportation eases congestion and reduces universal emissions, which when inhaled, contribute to negative neurotoxic effects.
Credit Cards/Gift Cards
9000 tons of plastic goes into creating gift cards per year and 1.6 billion are printed solely in the US per year. Majority of plastic cards contain polyvinyl chloride, which is difficult to corrode and contains pollutants that are harmful to the environment.
Not only do power companies not care about the natural world, they affect the environment through a variety of processes to generate electricity that can create greenhouse gases, acid rain and pollution. On the flip side, poor parenting comes into play as parents fail to teach their children the importance of burning less fossil fuel and contributing toward less carbon dioxide in the air through little tasks such as solely flipping the lights on when unnecessary.
Take a walk through Times Square and ask yourself if you perceive that it is really necessary to have millions of LED lights and digital billboards displaying consumerists dreams? Amongst the electricity consumption to keep the American dream alive in vulnerable human beings minds, light pollution disturbs our view of the night sky and the corescating lights have a disruptive effect on natural cycles.
Corporate America’s Example
Corporate America will go to any unethical length to maximize the odds of repetitive purchase and minimal cost. Major corporations carbon-spewing coal plants produce radioactive material which if leaked into the environment, causes radioactive contamination.
The profits before people mentality. The shirt on your back may be made with chemical finishes and synthetic materials that are produced with toxic chemicals.
